12 sentenced to death for triple murder

Twelve persons were sentenced to death and four others to life-term imprisonment by a Rajshahi Speedy Trial Tribunal (STT) Tuesday in a sensational triple-murder case of Bogra. STT Judge ATM Mesbahuddoulla delivered the verdict, acquitting another 24 persons of the charge of killing a father and his two sons over land dispute three years back. The persons ordered by the court to go to the gallows are - Rashid, Saiful, Ripon, Zaman, Forayjul, Gani, Baser, Lal Miah, Affer, Shafiqul, Ashraf and Bachchu. The four lifers are - Zahidul, Bachher, Sofer and Mohsin. All except Saiful and Lal Miah were in the dock during the verdict. The court also fined each lifer Tk 5,000, in default, to suffer one-year more rigorous imprisonment. — UNB
