1,200 charged over death of police constable in Khulna

A case has been filed over the fatal beating of police constable Sumon Gharami during clashes with protesters in Khulna, reports bdnews24.com.
Labanchara Police Station Sub-Inspector Mostafa Saklain initiated the lawsuit as a plaintiff on Friday, said the station's chief Momtazul Haque.
He said as many as 1,200 unidentified people have been named as suspects in the case. However, no arrest has been made.
In addition, two separate cases have been filed with Khulna Sadar and Sonadanga police over the vandalism and attacks on police during the clashes on Friday evening, Haque said.
Khulna Metropolitan Police Commissioner Md Mozammel Haque said constable Sumon died from the beating of protesters in Khulna city's Mohammad Nagar area on Friday evening.
