Some 1200 telephones in Chowmuhoni and its adjoining areas of Noakhali district became inactive due to the underground cable theft. Three underground cables on the south side of Begumganj Bridge were stolen on the night of April 26. As a result, telephones of the areas remained inactive since then, said a BTCL press release on Sunday. Meanwhile, work to restore the cable has begun, it said, adding that the telephones will be active within 4-5 days, according to a news agency.
