12,000 underprivileged women get VGD service

PANCHAGARH, Mar 6 (BSS): About 12,000 underprivileged women are getting vulnerable group development (VGD) and motherhood facilities in five upazilas of the district.
The Women Affairs Department has provided various income generating training among the women to make them economically self-reliant.
The department has also provided credit facilities to the women to help them take different projects side by side with marketing their produces.
District Women Affairs Officer Moriom Khanom said that 10,600 underprivileged women have been brought under VGD cards while rest have been brought under motherhood service programme in the district.
She also said that 10,600 cardholder women are getting 30 kilograms of rice and 1,400 women are getting Tk 350 each as motherhood salary each month.
