1,239 police personnel working in UN peacekeeping missions: Kamal

At present as many as 1,239 members of Bangladesh police, including female ones, have been working in different regions in the globe as part of the United Nations’ peacekeeping missions. State Minister for Home Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has said a total of 32,000 police officers have been recruited in five years from 2009 to 2013. The manpower in police force has been increased by 32,000 members during five years from 2009-2013, Asaduzzaman said, adding the government has taken a decision in principle to recruit another 50,000 police officers. At present, a significant nuber of female police personnel are working in UN peacekeeping missions abroad, according to a news agency.
