126,489 Bangladeshis in peacekeeping missions so far

A total of 126,489 Bangladeshi army, navy, air force and police personnel so far took part in the UN peacekeeping missions in different regions of the world, Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali said in the Jatiya Sangsad (Parliament). Of them, 113,258 were members of the armed forces and the remaining 13,231 of the police forces, he said, replying to a scripted question of Awami League MP Nizam Uddin Hazari (Feni-2). The Foreign Minister informed the House that till now, Bangladeshi peacekeepers participated in 54 UN missions in 39 countries, according to a news agency.
