127.69m voters as EC unveils final list

The Bangladesh Election Commission (EC) on Tuesday published the final list of 127,695,183 voters ahead of the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election in February next year.
Senior Secretary of the EC Secretariat, Akhtar Ahmed, revealed the information to reporters in front of his office at the EC headquarters in the city's Agargaon area.
Akhtar Ahmed said, "The final voter list has been prepared with those who turned 18 by October 31 of this year. According to the final count of the total voters, 64,814,907 are male voters, 62,879,042 female voters, and 1,234 third-gender voters."
On November 3, the EC published the updated draft voter list. According to that draft, the total number of voters included 64,760,382 male, 62,850,772 female and 1,230 third-gender voters.
He added that between March 2 and November 18 of this year, the growth rate of male voters was 2.29 per cent, while the growth rate of female voters was 4.16 per cent.
During the 12th parliamentary election held in January last year, the total number of registered voters was approximately 116.9 million.
