12km tailback on Dhaka-Ctg highway

A 12-kilometres(km)-long tailback was created on Dhaka-Chittagong highway on Monday after a vehicle became dysfunctional on the highway at Bashbaria in Sitakunda upazila of Chittagong earlier on Sunday midnight. Mohammad Yeasin, officer-in-charge of Sitakunda Highway Police, said the traffic gridlock was created in the area since Sunday midnight as a vehicle went out of order since Sunday midnight at Koutabazar in the area, causing immense suffering to the commuters. Zillur Rahman, a police sergeant of Bashbaria police camp, said the tailback has stretched from Bashbaria to Bhatiari and Sitakunda. Besides, some points of Mirsarai-Nizampur road have also experienced heavy traffic due to the incident. The Dhaka-bound vehicles were stuck in the tailback and are moving very slowly till the filling of this report around 1pm on Monday, according to UNB.
