13 hurt in Bashundhara Paper Mills fire

Thirteen workers were injured in a fire that broke out at a paper mill factory owned by Bashundhara Group in Gazaria upazila of Munshiganj district on Sunday morning. Officer-in-charge Ferdous Hossain of Gazaria Police Station said the fire originated at a warehouse of Bashundhara Paper Mills Ltd at Anarpur from sparks ignited while welding work was in progress around 9:15am. Soon after the eruption of the fire, factory’s own fire management unit tried to extinguish the blaze. But they failed to contain the fire and it started razing through the other parts of the factory. On information, five firefighting units from Comilla, Narayanganj and Demra of Dhaka rushed in and doused the blaze around 2pm, according to a news agency.
