13 pirates arrested

Police in a drive arrested 13 members of a gang of pirates from Padma River in Pabna Sadar Upazila on Monday evening. Superintendent of Police (SP) of the district Miraz Uddin Ahmed said being tipped off, a team of police raided different points in Padma River and arrested them along with arms and ammunitions. Foreign made pistols, home made guns and some ammunitions were recovered from the possession of the pirates during the drive, according to a news agency.
