13 sent to jail in triple murder case

A Dhaka court has sent 13 people to jail in a triple murder case. Senior Judicial Magistrate Afroja Shiuli passed the order on Monday afternoon turning down the bail petitions of the accused. Earlier, in the morning, the 13 accused – Humayun Kabir Sarkar, Abdur Rahim, Tara Mia, Liakat Ali, Russell, Alamgir, Anis, Chanac, Jahangir, Tota Sheikh, Akter, Ishak Kokdar and Younus Kokdar – surrendered before the court and appealed for bail. On March 4, Abu Bakar Siddik, Sub-Inspector (SI) of (Dhaka-South) Detective Branch (DB) of police, submitted charge sheet before the court in the murder case. Though, there were 56 names in the case but 60 people, including the 13, were named as accused in the charge sheet. On January 6, Murshed Khandakar, 50, his son Masud Khandakar, 28, and Makbul Munshi, 36, were killed in post-election clashes between the two rival groups at Hazarbigha village at Bilaspur union under Dohar upazila in Dhaka district, according to a news agency.
