14 get life for killing farmer in Sirajganj

A court in Sirajganj on Monday sentenced 14 persons to suffer life term imprisonment for killing a farmer at Putia village under Ullapara upazila of the district in 2012. Additional district and session Judge Dr Iman Ali pronounced the verdict. According to the court sources, the convicted persons are – Fazlul Haque, 45, his wife Marzina Khatun, 40, Abdul Kuddus, 50, his son Ashraful, 27, Aminul Islam, 27, Abdul Momin, 18, Bisa Mandol, 30, Babar Ali, 50, Rejaul Karim, 22, Shamsul Alam, 40, Belal Hossain, 48, Bablu Mandol, 45, Haider Ali, 28, and Aynal Haque, 25. All of them are inhabitants of the same area. The prosecution story, in brief, is that the convicted persons chopped farmer Nurul Islam to death following a dispute over a piece land. The victim's son Tofael Hossain filed a murder case with Ullapara police station against them on the same day. Police after investigation submitted a charge sheet to the court. The judge after examining the witnesses and evidences found them guilty and announced the judgment in presence of them, according to BSS.
