14-party demand action against Khaleda-Tarique

Thursday, 3 April 2014

Ruling Awami League-led 14-party alliance on Thursday urged the government to take legal action against BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia and her eldest son Tarique Rahman for their recent identical statements claiming slain Gen Ziaur Rahman as the first president of Bangladesh, saying “such utterance amounts to sedition.” “The 14-party alliance protested the remarks with indignation,” said Health Minister Mohammad Nasim at a press briefing after a meeting of the ruling alliance at the Awami League president’s Dhanmondi office in the capital. Nasim, also Awami League presidium member, accused Khaleda Zia of hatching conspiracy, with both national and international forces to install an undemocratic government in power. The meeting also decided to organise mass campaign and rally across the country from April 28-30, he told the press briefing, according to a news agency.
