14,558 families affected in six upazilas of Barisal

BARISAL, Aug.11 (BSS): Government has sanctioned Taka 1.22 million for the flood-hit people of six upazilas of the district until yesterday.
Official sources said, besides, 88 metric tons of rice and 'chirha and muri' worth Taka 75,000 were also sanctioned for the affected people here.
The relief goods have been distributing among the affected people of Mehendigonj, Hizla, Muladi, Gournadi, Ujirpur and Agailjhara upazilas since Wednesday.
A total of 5,058 families were affected totally and another 9,500 families partially by the flood.
Four persons including two children died by the flood in the district. Meanwhile, 140 pieces of lungi, 140 pieces of saree and 30 cartons of biscuit were distributed among the flood-affected people of Mehendigonj upazila yesterday, the sources said.
District administrations along with army persons are helping the local administrations for proper distribution of the relief goods among the flood victims.
The flood situation has improved following recession of Flood water from the affected areas, the sources added.
