147 18-party men indicted for 2013 Paltan violence

A Dhaka court framed Monday charges against 147 leaders and activists of the BNP-led 18-party alliance, including BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi and publicity secretary Zainal Abdin Farroque, in a case filed for unleashing violence from an anti-government rally in 2013, reports UNB.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Tareq Mainul Islam Bhuiyan read out the charges brought against the then 18-party alliance activists and fixed September 25 for starting the trial.
The court rejected time petitions of 99 accused and issued arrest warrants against them as they were not present at the court.
On March 24, police submitted chargesheet against the 148 leaders and activists of the BNP-led alliance in the case filed under the Speedy Trial Act with Paltan thana.
Another report adds:  A Dhaka court indicted on Monday 14 BNP leaders and activists of Keraniganj, including Amanullah Aman, in a case filed for attacking police in 2009.
Metropolitan Magistrate Hasibul Haque framed the charges against them and fixed November 20 to start the trial with the deposition of witnesses.
The court also issued a warrant for the arrest of two BNP men - Hazi Aminul Haque and Rana-as they did not appear before the court during the hearing.
