15 crude bombs recovered from DU hall

Police in a drive recovered some 15 crude bombs from Surja Sen Hall of Dhaka University (DU) on Friday afternoon. The drive was launched following a clash between two fractions of the university unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) on the campus. A team of Shahbagh Police Station conducted the raid on the DU dormitory at about 5 pm after the clash and recovered the crude bombs from room No 454, said police. Talking to reporters, Surja Sen Hall provost Prof Dr Maksud Kamal said several crude bombs were exploded during a clash between students on the campus in the afternoon. “So, the university authorities raided the hall.” Witnesses said two groups of DU BCL locked in the clash in front of the hall cafeteria when they exploded several crude bombs and pelted each other with brick chips. Later, acting DU proctor Prof Dr Amzad Ali brought the situation under control. Following the clash, the DU authorities with the help of police conducted the raid on the dormitory, according to UNB.
