15 gold bars recovered: 1 held

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested a suspected smuggler in possession of 15 gold bars weighing 1.5 kilograms at Benapole union under Sarsa upazila in Jessore district on Wednesday night. The arrestee was identified as Tuhin Rahman, 25, son of Shawkat Ali, a resident of Putkhali village under Benapole Port Police Station. Lieutenant Colonel Mostafizur Rahman, commanding officer of BGB Battalion-23, said tipped off, a team of BGB launched a drive in Putkhali area at about 10:30 pm and arrested Tuhin while he was going to the border to smuggle the gold bars out to India. Later, the border force after searching his body recovered the 15 gold bars, according to UNB.
