15 injured in Jhenidah clash

JHENAIDAH, Sept 4 (UNB): At least 15 people were injured in a clash today between two rival groups of Awami League activists at Huda Putia village in Sadar Upazila for establishing supremacy in the area.
Eight of the injured were admitted to the Sadar Hospital while others were treated at different clinics.
Witnesses said the clash took place at about 10am between the groups, one led by Tasirul Islam and the other by Moksed Ali Joarder. Both sides were equipped with lethal weapons.
The police rushed to the spot and quelled the situation, and picked up 13 people for engaging in bloody clash.
As tension prevailed, police were deployed in the area to avert fresh clashes.
