15 jute godowns gutted in fire in Faridpur

FARIDPUR, Oct 20: At least 15 godowns of jute were gutted in separate devastating fires at Hat Krishnapur Bazar and Choddoroshi Bazar under Sadarpur Upazila Monday noon.
The reasons of fire could not be known immediately.
Sources said, the fire originated from unknown source and burnt the raw jute of six godowns and other four jute godowns partially at Krishnapur Bazar at about 11:00 am.
On information, fire fighters from Sadar and Boalmari upazilas rushed to the spot and struggled to bring the fire under control in about two hours.
The owners of the godowns are: Saiduzzaman, Shohidul Haque, Poresh Shaha, Baddhaswam Shaha and Bhola Shaha.
The fire service has not estimated the cost of damage immediately but locals had estimated it at Tk 3.0 million (30 lakh).
In another fire, five jute godowns were gutted at Choddorosi Bazar under Sadarpur union of the Upazila.
The fire originated at 3:00 pm and blazed and engulfed other godowns. The affected businessmen claimed that the extent of loss from the fire could go up to Tk 2.0 million, sources said.
