15 shops, 5 houses gutted in Kishoreganj

At least 15 shops and five houses were gutted by a fire that broke out at Borobazar in Kishoreganj town on Sunday night. Pran Nath Saha, deputy director of Kishoreganj Fire Service and Civil Defence, said the fire originated from an electric short circuit at umbrella factory of Shahjahan in the area at about 10:30 pm and it soon engulfed other 14 shops and five houses. On information, fire fighting units rushed to the spot and extinguished the blaze with the help of locals at about 11:15 pm. The loss caused by the fire would go up to Tk 20 million, said Kamrul Hasan, president of Borobazar Byabosayee Samity, according to UNB.
