150,000 distressed people get VGF rice in Rajshahi

Around 150,000 lakh poor and distressed people have been brought under Vulnerable Group Feeding (VGF) programme in Rajshahi district to mark the ongoing month of holy Ramadan and forthcoming holy Eid-ul-Fitre. Under the specialised VGF programme, 1,447 tonnes of rice will be distributed among 105,000 beneficiaries in nine Upazilas and 40,049 in 14 pourasavas (municipalities) in the district. Already, the distribution activities were started, the sources closed to the office of District Relief and Rehabilitation have said. Each of the beneficiaries is getting 10-kg of rice this time according to the list prepared in May last. Meanwhile, rice distribution in Mohanpur Upazila was completed on Wednesday and progressing fast in other upazilas. AKM Mujibur Rahman, District Relief and Rehabilitation Officer, said the distribution process is expected to complete before the Eid, according to BSS.
