16 female Jamaat activists held in Satkhira

Police arrested 16 female leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami from Puratan Satkhira area of Satkhira town on Thursday while they were allegedly planning to carry out subversive activities. Tipped off, a team of Sadar Police Station launched a drive at the house of local Jamaat leader Fazlul Haque in Madarasapara area around 1:00pm and arrested the female leaders and activists of the party, said the officer-in-charge of the police station. He said four crude bombs were also recovered from the house. The arrestees were holding a clandestine meeting to chalk out plans to carry out subversive activities in the area, the police official added, according to a news agency.
