16 get life for killing one

A Khulna court has sentenced 16 people to life imprisonment for killing a teenaged boy nine years ago. Judge MA Rob Hawladar of the Khulna divisional speedy trial judge’s court (district and sessions judge) also fined all sixteen convicts of college student Mustafa Kabir murder case Tk5,000 each, in default more one year rigorous imprisonment (RI). Court sources said a gang of identified local miscreants killed Mustafa Kabir, a class-XI student of Jhikargachha Shahid Mashiur Rahman Degree College, following a dispute with some people of Barni village of Jhikargachha upazila of Jessore district in 2006. A murder case was field and the divisional speedy trial judge passed the order on Sunday afternoon.
The convicts are Abdul Gafur, Abdus Salam, Abul Khayer Member, Mohammad Habibur Rahman Habib, Hasanuzzaman alias Hasan (1), Hassan (2), Abdul Jabbar, Faruk, Masun Billah Hossain, Altaf Hossain, Sujat Ali, Azim, Shahid Mirza Topu, Sultan Ahmed Bhuiyan, Motakabbir alias Kubbar and Maruf, according to a news agency.
