16 held while going to India thru\\\' Benapole

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel have arrested 16 people while they were going to India illegally through Benapole border in Sarsa Upazila in Jessore. Alauddin, in charge of the BGB Battalion-23 camp at Benapole union, said being tipped off, a BGB team raided Putkhali border point on Thursday night and arrested the 16. The arrestees hail from different parts of Dhaka, Madaripur, Faridpur and Narail districts. Later, BGB troops handed them over to Benapole Port Police Station, Alauddin added. Matiur Rahamn, sub-inspector of Benapole Port Police Station, said human traffickers were sending the 16 innocent people to India through the border point illegally with promise of better employment there, according to a news agency.
