CHATTOGRAM, Feb 11: A four-day REHAB fair begins at Radisson Blu Hotel in the port city on Thursday.
A total of 42 stalls of real estate and housing companies, including 2 gold sponsors and 17 co-sponsoring institutions are participating in the fair. The fair will remain open from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm.
Mayor of Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) Dr Shahadat Hossain will attend the inaugural programme as the chief guest while Chairman of Chattogram Development Authority (CDA) engineer Nurul Karim and Commissioner of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) Hasib Aziz will attend it as the special guest.
At a press conference held at REHAB regional office in Chattogram on Tuesday morning, the leaders of REHAB disclosed the information. Chairman of REHAB of Chattogram Regional Committee and Vice-President of Central Committee Haji Delwar Hossain read out a written statement at the conference.
Among others, Rehab Director and Chittagong Regional Committee Co-Chairman Mohammad Morshedul Hasan, Rehab Chittagong Regional Committee Members Syed Irfanul Alam, Noor Uddin Ahmed, Mohammad Mainul Hasan and Fair Organising Committee Members Rezaul Karim, Mohammad Zafar, Hrishikesh Chowdhury, ASM Abdul Ghaffar Miyaji, Noor Mohammad, Ashish Roy Chowdhury and SM Adibul Huda were also present.
Haji Delwar Hossain called upon the government to decrease the registration fees to 6 to 7 per cent as the housing sector is now contributing 15 per cent to the national growth. But the industry is now facing various challenges mainly because of the rise in price of land and construction materials and a lack of power and gas supply.
Mr Hossain urged the government to ensure gas and power connection to the new housing projects in the greater interest of the industry.
