17 held on Putkali border while returning from India

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel arrested 17 Bangladeshi nationals while they were entering the country through Putkhali border point in Benapole on Monday, after going to India illegally. The arrestees hail from different areas of Bagerhat, Narail and Faridpur districts. BGB Battalion-23 Putkhali camp commander Shafiuddin said on secret information, a team of the border force conducted a drive in the area at about 8:30 pm and arrested the 17 Bangladeshi nationals, including six women and one child, while they were trying to enter the Bangladesh territory during their return from India without valid documents. Later, BGB troops handed them over to Benapole Port Police Station. A case was filed in this connection, according to a news agency.
