17 injured, 7 houses vandalised in three dists

At least 17 persons were injured and seven houses and establishments were vandaliied in post-election violence in Patuakhali, Natore and Madaripur districts, on Monday report agencies.
Seven Awami League (AL) activists have allegedly been attacked and injured by supporters of the defeated independent candidate in Patuakhali-4 a day after the national election, reports bdnews24.com
The incident took place near the Tiakhali Hatkhola market in Kalapara upazila around 10:00 am on Monday, according to Ali Ahmed, chief of the local police station.
The victims are Bashir Chowkidar (55), Md Mizanur Rahman (50), Shipon (40), Idris Pada (64), Md Sohel (42), Mizanur Rahman Howladar (48), and Aqib (24).
They were rushed to the hospital with various wounds and bruises, said Kalapara Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Chinmoy Chandra Halder.
Due to the severity of his injuries, Bashir Chowkidar was transferred to Barishal Sher-e Bangla Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment, according to Chinmoy. Mizanur only required first aid, while the others are under hospital care.
In Madaripur, ten people were injured in bomb attacks during a procession brought out by the supporters of independent candidate Tahmina Begum on the occasion of winning the election at Fasiatala in Kalkini upazila of Madaripur district on Monday.
Witnesses said the supporters of independent candidate Tahmina brought out a procession over their victory in the election.
At one stage, the supporters of the AL-backed candidate led by Alinagar UP chairman Shaheed Pervez attacked on the procession, triggering a chase and counter-chase.Later, several bombs were exploded, leaving ten people injured.
In Natore, at least seven houses and establishments were vandalised allegedly by the supporters of an independent candidate, who was elected MP from Natore-1, in Bagatipara upazila of Natore district on Monday.
Affected house owners alleged that the supporters of independent candidate Abul Kalam Azad led by Dayarampur UP member Akkas Ali swooped on the house of Jakaria, a Bangladesh Chhtra League (BCL) leader, and vandalised the house on Monday morning.
