17 Jamaat-Shibir men held in Ctg

Police on Wednesday arrested 17 activists of Jamaat-Shibir from different parts of Chittagong city for trying to engage in act of sabotage after Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Matiur Rahman Nizami was awarded death sentence for wartime offences. A team from Bakalia police station arrested five activists of Jamaat and its student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir from Shah Amanat Bridge area, Halishahor police rounded up five Shibir men from Chhotapool area while seven Shibir men were picked up from Darumulem Madrasa under Kotwali police station. Police claimed they were involvement in vandalism, arson and trying to engage in subversive activities after the announcement of the verdict, according to a news agency.
