17 sentenced for catching hilsa

Members of newly-formed River Police conducted drives against catching hilsa in three districts and held 17 fishermen along with ‘current net’ and hilsa worth about Tk 1.6 million in 24 hours ending at 6:00 am on Wednesday. The districts are Chandpur, Patuakhali and Sariatpur. The detained fishermen were sentenced to different simple jail terms through mobile courts, according to a news agency.
