17 students get Bank Asia's scholarship money

Bank Asia has given higher studies scholarships to 17 meritorious students of Malkhanagor under Sirajdikhan Upazila in Munshigonj Friday as a part of its corporate social responsibility, said a press release.
Bank Asia Director A Rouf Chowdhury handed over the scholarship money to the students as the chief guest.
Sirajdikhan Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Daudul Islam and Upazila Chairman Md Mohiuddin Ahmed were present as special guests on the occasion.
Also present at the function were Bank Asia Vice-chairman AM Nurul Islam, President and Managing Director Erfanuddin Ahmed, industrialist Amanullah Chowdhury, Mrs Zakia Rouf Chowdhury and Mrs Amanullah Chowdhury.
A large number of people including students, teachers, journalists, businessmen and local elite took part in the function.
The bank has given scholarships for higher studies to the meritorious students in the rural areas, where it has branches. A total of 42 students have been selected for Bank Asia higher studies scholarships for the current year.
Introduced in 2005, the scholarship with 4-5 years' duration has so far been given to 122 students who are pursuing higher studies in different reputed educational institutions of the country including BUET, Dhaka Medical College, Chittagong Medical College, Dhaka University, Chittagong University, Agricultural University etc.
