1745 HIV infected in country

Speakers at a discussion informed that HIV infected people in the country were 1,745. Some 204 AIDS patients died since the first HIV/AIDS patient was identified in the country in 1989, reports UNB.
The discussion focusing on HIV/AIDS and our responsibilities towards the garments workers, truck drivers, rickshaw pullers, day labourers and domestic helps in Dhaka city was held at Katashur, Mohammadpur on 12 December 2009.
LIFE, an NGO associated with the United Nations and Children's Voice jointly organised the meeting to mark the World AIDS Day-2009.
