17,500 rubber trees destroyed in Moulvibazar

Unidentified miscreants have torched a rubber plant at Rajnagar upazila in Moulvibazar district destroying some 17,500 trees. Manager of the rubber plant Aminul Islam said the miscreants set fire to the trees on 44 acres of land on the nights of Sunday and Monday. The loss caused by the fire was estimated at Tk 50 million. Though a general diary was lodged with Rajnagar Police Station in connection with Sunday’s fire, police are yet to take any steps, Aminul alleged, according to UNB.
