17,716 tonnes VGF rice allocated for Rangpur div during Ramadan

The government has allocated 17,716.85 tonnes rice under special Vulnerable Group Feeding (VGF) programme for the poor of Rangpur division to assist them in celebrating the holy Ramadan month and Eid-ul-Fitr festival. According to official sources, over 1.77 million VGF card holder extremely poor and distressed beneficiary families of all 58 Upazilas in eight districts of Rangpur division will get the allocated rice with 10-kg rice per family by this holy month of Ramadan. District Relief and Rehabilitation Officers (DRRO) of Rangpur Abdus Salam said that the Ministry of Food and Disaster Management has allocated the rice for the beneficiary poor families to assist them celebrating the Ramadan and Eid-ul- Fitr festivity. As per direction of the district administrations, upazila administrations in association with union VGF committees and public representatives have started preparing list of the beneficiary families to complete VGF rice distribution before the Eid, according to BSS.
