18 customs officials receive awards

The National Board of Revenue (NBR) Thursday awarded 18 customs officials of Dhaka Customs House for detecting unauthorised foreign currencies and gold worth over Tk 67.4 million (6.74 crore) during the 2006-07 fiscal year, reports UNB.
They were awarded under the Customs (grant of reward) Order, 1986 for their commendable role in detecting unauthorised gold and foreign currencies, and checking tax evasion attempts, said an NBR handout.
Of the awardees, one is Commissioner, one Additional Commissioner, one Deputy Commissioner, four Assistant Commissioners, three superintendents and eight inspectors.
Of them, Superintendent Ashok Barua, ADC Lutfar Rahman, Commissioner Firoj Shah Alam, DC Mubinul Kabir and AC Mohammad Shafiuddin received the highest financial award.
