18 Jamaat-Shibir men held in Gazipur

Police in a drive arrested 18 leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir from Kanthalia Chala in Kaliakoir upazila of Gazipur district on Thursday. Omar Faruk, officer-in-charge of Kaliakoir Police Station said, tipped off a team of police conducted a drive in the area and arrested the Jamaat-Shibir men while they were holding a clandestine meeting in the area in the afternoon. They were arrested on charge of holding anti-government meeting, said the OC, according to a news agency.
