18 'rajakars' sued in Natore, Satkhira

NATORE, Apr 10 (UNB): Eighteen suspected 'rajakars' have been sued for killing freedom fighters and looting houses during the War of Liberation in 1971.
In Natore, fourteen suspected 'rajakars' in Gurudaspur Upazila have been sued for killing three freedom fighters and looting houses during the War of Liberation.
MS Rahman Biplab, younger brother of martyred freedom fighter Mujibur Rahman, filed the case with Gurudaspur thana Thursday night against Abul Qashem, Bajlar Rahman, Sonaullah, Ahsan Master, Nazrul, Mofijuddin and eight others.
According to the complainant, the accused, led by rajakar commander Abul Kashem, attacked the house of one Mansur at Shikarpur village in the Upazila, where a group of freedom fighters were staying, on September 1, 1971.
The collaborators of the Pakistani occupation force took freedom fighters Mujibur Rahman Reza, Golam Rabbani Ranju and Shyampada Mani to Chanchkoir rajakar camp.
Later, the three freedom fighters were tortured and killed.
The rajakars also looted various houses in the area and set fire to those.
In Satkhira, a case was filed against four alleged rajakars (collaborators) here Thursday on charge of killing a man during the country's Liberation War in 1971.
Babar Ali Sarder of Sonabaria village under Kolaroa Upazila lodged the case with Judicial Magistrate Court against Abu Musa, Mohor Ali of Bajrabaksa village, Moulana Ahmad Ali of Jhikra village and Mohammad Jabed Ali Choukidar of Madra village of the same Upazila for killing his maternal uncle.
Sources said the court ordered the officer-in-charge of Kolaroa thana to take necessary action in this connection after investigation.
According to the complaint, the accused alleged that rajakar Mohor Ali shot his maternal uncle Rajab Ali to death at the behest of another rajakar Ahmad Ali on April 14, 1971.
Later, local people buried Rajab Ali in Sonabaria crossing.
Earlier Tuesday, Sajidur Rahman of Madanpur village under Tala Upazila filed a case against 30-35 alleged rajakars.
