184 get CIP status for 2022

The government honoured as many as 184 businesspersons with CIP (commercially important person) status for the year 2022 at a ceremony on Thursday.
The commerce ministry and the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) jointly organized the programme at a city hotel.
State Minister for Commerce Ahsanul Islam Titu handed over the CIP cards to the selected persons at the event.
Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) President Mahbubul Alam was present at the function as special guest, with senior commerce secretary Tapan Kanthi Ghosh in the chair. EPB vice-chairman AHM Ahsan delivered the welcome speech.
Of the award winners, 140 businesspersons have received the status for their outstanding performance in the export category.
They are from the country's different export and trade sectors including raw jute, jute and jute goods, leather goods, frozen foods, readymade garment (oven), agricultural products, agri processing, light engineering products, pharmaceuticals items, handicraft goods, specialized home textile products, RMG (knitwear), ceramics products, plastics goods, textile (fabric), , computer software, furniture, miscellaneous products and 'C' category industry under EPZs.
Besides, 44 individuals from different trade chambers and bodies received the CIP cards in the ex-officio category.
Eminent business personalities are recognized every year for their extraordinary performance and contribution to export and trade categories.
The facilities a CIP cardholder enjoys include priority in air and rail-road-waterway transportation ticket reservation.
A CIP also gets a letter of introduction from the foreign ministry while travelling abroad.
They get special passes to enter the secretariat, use special stickers on their cars and get invitations to different public functions.
The CIPs and their dependents also get cabins in hospitals on a priority basis.
