1.8m youths self-employed

A total of 1.8 million (18 lakh) youth are now self-employed in the country after receiving training on skill development through the Directorate of Youth Development. A total of 3.2 million youths, both male and female were given training on 28 trades.
The Directorate of Youth Development will introduce new courses on its training programme to create skilled manpower for overseas employment in addition to its regular courses, reports BSS.
The decision was taken at an inter-ministerial meeting chaired by state Minister for Youth and Sports Mohammad Ahad Ali Sarker at the conference room of the ministry. Secretary of the ministry Mahbub Ahmed and other senior officials were present at the meeting.
The meeting decided to impart training to the youths under new curricula for creating employment opportunities for them as per demand of the overseas job market. The meeting laid importance on sending the trained and skilled youths abroad on priority basis as such the youths will be encouraged to receive training .
