1.8pc JS time spent for lawmaking: TIB

Only 1.8 per cent of the total working hours was spent for making laws in the 1st session of the 10th Parliament, a research report of Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) revealed on Monday. On the contrary, the 1st session of India’s 15th Lok Sabha spent 8 per cent of its total duration. The TIB report also found that a total of 17 hours and 7 minutes were wasted due to quorum crisis which outlaid Tk 80 million of public money. An average of 28 minutes was wasted in the 1st session of the 10th Parliament. The Parliament costs Tk 78,000 per minute to run, the report said, according to a news agency.
