19-gun salute welcomes Modi

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Dhaka on Saturday morning on his two-day official visit to Bangladesh at the invitation of his Bangladesh counterpart Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The special Indian Air Force One 'Rajdoot' plane carrying Modi and the members of his entourage landed at Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) International Airport at 10.08am. A 19-gun salute welcomed Modi as soon as the 'IAF Rajdoot' touched down the runway of the airport in Dhaka's Kurmitola. He was presented with a bouquet. PM Hasina received the Indian premier at the VVIP Tarmac.. He was taken to the saluting dais accompanied by the Bangladesh PM and was presented a guard of honour by a contingent of Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Navy and Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) personnel at Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) Airport. Just before leaving New Delhi for Dhaka, the Indian Prime Minister on Saturday morning tweeted that his maiden Bangladesh trip is going to strengthen the ties between the two nations. “Leaving for Bangladesh. This visit is going to strengthen the bond between our Nations, benefitting people of our countries & our region,” he tweeted.
