19-party to stage countrywide demo Monday

Thursday, 5 June 2014

The BNP-led 19-party alliance will stage demonstrations across the country on Monday protesting the ‘growing’ incidents of killing, forced disappearance and abduction. BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi announced the programme at a press briefing at party’s Nayapaltan central office on Thursday. He said the programme will be observed in all district towns of the country. Rizvi said the programme was approved at the 19-party’s meeting held on Wednesday night at BNP chairperson’s Gulshan office. He alleged that Rab members in exchange for money are killing common people alongside the opposition leaders and activists at the behest of ruling party godfathers. “We’re announcing our programme protesting the country’s such alarming situation.” Rizvi said the 19-party alliance leaders at the meeting urged the government to immediately announce a fresh election schedule by restoring the non-party caretaker government system in the constitution, according to UNB.
