19-party to stage countrywide demonstration Monday

Ruhul Kabir Rizvi | Friday, 6 June 2014

The BNP-led 19-party alliance will stage demonstrations across the country Monday protesting the 'growing' incidents of killing, forced disappearance and abduction, reports UNB.
BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi announced the programme at a press briefing at the BNP's Nayapaltan central office Thursday.
He said the programme will be observed in all district towns of the country.
Rizvi said the programme was approved at the 19-party's meeting held Wednesday night at the BNP chairperson's Gulshan office.
"The incidents of abduction, killing and forced disappearance have increased alarmingly. Law enforcers, especially RAB, have become a killing squad at the dictate of the current illegal government," the BNP leader said.
He alleged that RAB members in exchange for money are killing common people alongside the opposition leaders and activists at the behest of ruling party godfathers. "We're announcing our programme protesting the country's such alarming situation."
Another UNB report adds: BNP termed Thursday 'illegal and unethical' the placing of the national budget for fiscal year 2014-15 by the current 'illegitimate government'.
"The current regime can no way be called a legitimate government. The present parliament is illegal, too. How come they place the national budget in parliament those who were not elected by people," BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said this while addressing a discussion prior to placing the budget by Finance Minister AMA Muhith. The BNP spokesman further said: "Placing the budget by an unelected government is illegal and unethical act."
Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal arranged the discussion at the National Press Club marking the 33rd death anniversary of BNP founder and ex-president Ziaur Rahman.
