19.5m stolen from Brac Bank\\\'s Joypurhat branch

In a daring heist, burglars looted Tk 19.5 million (1.95 crore) from the vault of a Brac Bank branch by breaking open its wall in Joypurhat on Saturday night. Officer-in-charge of Joypurhat Sadar Police Station Abdur Rashid said the bank employees found the vault broken and the money missing in the morning and informed police. The close circuit (CC) camera of the bank, housed on the 2nd floor of Shajahan Mansion, was disconnected by the burglars during the robbery committed some time at night. Police and RAB official visited the multi-storey building that houses the Brac Bank branch in the district town. Commander of RAB-5 Joypurhat camp Major Abdur Rahim said two night guards of the bank – Harun and Helal – have been detained for interrogation, according to a news agency.
