About 20 murder cases recorded each month
FE REPORT | Wednesday, 19 November 2025
A total of 198 murder incidents occurred in Dhaka over the past 10 months, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) said on Tuesday.
Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relations) Muhammad Talebur Rahman shared the figures while speaking to the media. He said an average of around 20 murder cases are recorded in the capital each month, with police solving most of them.
On the killing of Juba Dal leader Golam Kibria in Pallabi on Monday, the DC said investigation was underway. One suspect has so far been arrested, and police expect to uncover key details once the remaining two suspects are detained. However, he noted that the victim's family had yet to file a case.
Golam Kibria was shot dead around 6:40pm on Monday near the old Pallabi Police Station in Sector-C. CCTV footage shows three masked and helmeted assailants entering a hardware store, where they shot him at close range.
Mr Kibria attempted to shield himself behind a chair, but the attackers shot him within 10 seconds before fleeing. Although others were present inside the store, none could intervene.
