1kg gold seized at Shahjalal: 1 held

Customs Intelligence officials arrested a man with 1 kg gold in Dhaka's Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) International Airport on Thursday. The arrested is Shahidul Islam, 36, of Rawzan Upazila of Chittagong district. The Customs men held Shahidul and recovered 1 kg gold worth about Tk 5 million, hidden inside a laptop bag while he was passing through the Green Channel of the airport at around 8:45am, said M Mainul Khan, Director General (DG) of Department of Customs Intelligence. Shahidul arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) Airport by an Emirates plane (Flight Ek-582). He travelled to Dubai at least 17 times, said Umme Nahida Akhter, Assistant Director of Customs. The seized gold has been kept under the supervision of the customs department, she said, according to BSS.
