1st half sale of Nestle Group increases

The consolidated sales of the Nestle Group amounted to CHF (Swiss Franc) 53.10 billion in the first six months of 2008 registering an increase of 3.80 per cent over the same period of last year.
The Group's EBIT (earnings before interest tax) grew by 6.10 per cent to CHF 7.30 billion, resulting in an EBIT margin of 13.80 per cent, said a press release.
With sales of CHF 49.30 billion, Food and Beverages achieved organic growth of 8.90 per cent and was the Group's main contributor to growth and EBIT margins.
