1st Thai-Bangla FOC from Wednesday

The first Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) between Thailand and Bangladesh will begin in Dhaka on Wednesday. A nine-member Thai delegation led by Thailand Foreign Secretary Norachit Sinhaseni will arrive in the city on Wednesday afternoon to participate in the two-day FOC which will conclude on Thursday (June 25). Senior officials of Foreign Ministry will receive the delegation at Hazrat Shahjalal (R) International Airport. The Thai delegation includes Director General and other senior officials of Department of South Asian, Middle Eastern and African affairs and Director of Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA). Bangladesh and Thailand signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on the Establishment of Bilateral Consultations between the two countries' foreign ministries during former Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra’s visit to Bangladesh in 2012. Under the MOU, the first ever FOC is going to take place in Dhaka with Bangladesh Foreign Secretary Shahidul Haque and his Thai counterpart Norachit Sinhaseni leading their respective sides, according to a news agency.
