2 among ex-MP's son shot dead in city

A rising businessman and son of former Jatiya Party (JP) lawmaker Karim Uddin Bharasa was shot dead in the city Monday, reports UNB.
Police said Khairul Islam Bharasa alias Kajal (30) was gunned down allegedly by his elder brother inside his office in the city's Bijoynagar area in the afternoon.
Kajal was the Managing Director of New Age Tobacco and younger son of Karim Uddin Bharasa, who rose from rags to riches through building his business empire and became MP of the last parliament.
Police quoting witnesses said Kajal had an altercation with his elder brother Kabirul Islam Bharasa alias Kabir inside the office of 'New Age Tobacco' located on the 7th floor of a multi-storey building at 40 Bijoynagar over a business feud at about 2:55pm.
"At one stage, Kabir allegedly sprayed bullets targeting Kajal. Three bullets pierced his chest," said the witness account of the reported fratricide over business interests.
Kajal was first rushed to the nearby Islami Bank Hospital at Kakrail and then shifted to Square Hospital where the on-duty doctor pronounced him dead at about 3:30pm.
The body was sent to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) morgue.
Hailed from home district Rangpur, Kajal was the 4th issue of his father's second wife. He was residing at a Banani house.
Meanwhile, a 35-year-old unidentified young man was shot dead at Dhaka Udyan on the northern side of Basila canal under Mohammadpur police station.
Police rushed to the spot and recovered the body of the young man, wearing blue jeans and sky-colour t-shirt, at about 1:45 pm.
The body was sent to the DMCH morgue.
