2 arrested: Arms, ammo recovered

Police arrested two people along with a pistol, four rounds of bullet, two machetes and two pieces of iron rod on Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Daudkandi upazila of Comilla on Tuesday. The arrested are: Badal, 30, son of late Badsha Howlader of Joysur village of Gaurnadi upazila of Barisal district, and Selim Miah, 28, son of Babul Miah of Joypasha village of Kulaura upazila of Moulvibazar district. Abu Salam Miah, officer-in-charge of Daudkandi Police Station, said acting on secret information, a police team conducted a drive on the highway and waylaid a Dhaka-bound private car at about 6:00 am. Later, the law enforcers arrested the duo in possession of the firearms, ammunitions and sharp weapons. A case was filed under the Arms Act, according to UNB.
