2 BD police units off to UN Haiti mission

Two Formed Police Units (FPUs) of Bangladesh Police on Monday left Dhaka to join the UN peacekeeping mission in Haiti. The units comprising 140 male and 15 female personnel are under the command of Police super M Shawkat Ali. The Haiti mission is titled “MINUSTAH-United Nations Stabilisation Mission in Haiti”. Bangladesh tops the list of UN member countries whose police forces have been deployed in various peacekeeping missions across the world. Bangladesh Police members have already earned a great esteem for their competency in various UN peacekeeping missions, including those in Congo, South Sudan, Darfur, Ivory Coast, Mali and Haiti, according to UNB.
